Inchworm locomotion

WebJul 2, 2016 · In this paper we present a biomechanical study to evaluate the efficiency of the motion of endoscopic robots in the colon, with a special focus on “inchworm” locomotion. A quasi-linear viscoelastic model for soft tissues has been introduced in order to find the mechanical behavior of colon and mesenteries. The name "Geometridae" ultimately derives from Latin geometra from Greek γεωμέτρης ("geometer", "earth-measurer"). This refers to the means of locomotion of the larvae or caterpillars, which lack the full complement of prolegs seen in other caterpillars, with only two or three pairs at the posterior end instead of the usual five pairs. Equipped with appendages at both ends of the …

WebSep 8, 2024 · We have created an inchworm robot capable of the two-anchor crawl gait on level ground and inclined plane. The main novelty is in the design of the inchworm: (1) three-part body that is 3D printed and actuated by two servo motors to allow a looping and lengthening action, (2) passive friction pads to anchor the feet, each of which may be … WebSep 19, 2024 · To achieve bodiless inchworm locomotion, we simultaneously and cyclically contracted and then relaxed all of the skin’s actuators, resulting in repeated arching and flattening of the skin, and forward motion due to biased feet.

WebMost existing wall-climbing robots have a fixed range of load capacity and a step distance that is small and mostly immutable. It is therefore difficult for them to adapt to a discontinuous wall with particularly large gaps. Based on a modular design and inspired by leech peristalsis and internal soft-bone connection, a bionic crawling modular wall … WebMar 16, 2024 · Inchworm is a small insect with high climbing ability. With the body that can bend and stretch and the claws at the two ends for attachment, an inchworm can travel dexterously on a variety of objects. Inspired by the climbing locomotion of an inchworm, a wheel-legged wall climbing robot is proposed, as shown in Fig. 142.2.
